The CVIR scientific writing programme offers a comprehensive learning path through the essentials of academic publishing, directed to early-career researchers eager to enhance their scientific writing skills. Across three interactive online sessions and the final one happening in person, you’ll gain valuable insights into crafting and revising your manuscript, mastering statistical concepts, and engaging with the peer-review process.

 

As a special highlight, the final session will take place in person at the CIRSE 2025 Congress in Barcelona, giving you the opportunity to connect directly with experts and peers in the field. Please note that participation to this session requires registration to the CIRSE 2025 Congress.

 

You can register individually for each session listed in the program overview below. We encourage you to join all sessions to gain the most comprehensive experience and earn a certificate of completion of the program, issued to participants who will complete all sessions.

Reviewer Workshop

This session will focus on the critical role of peer review in the publication process, offering insights into what reviewers look for in submissions. Participants will learn how manuscripts are evaluated, with discussions on decision types (minor/major revisions, accept/reject) and how to respond to reviewers. The session includes example response letters and scenarios, interactive feedback from Editors-in-Chief, and opportunities for comments and questions from the audience. It will also provide the author’s perspective on managing reviewer feedback and improving manuscripts based on reviews.

Final Writing Exercise

Time: September 2025 (exact date and time TBA)

Location: CIRSE Annual Congress 2025 (Barcelona)

In this final, in-person, session at the CIRSE Annual Congress 2025, participants will have the opportunity to voluntarily submit their papers. Two of these papers will be selected for review, with priority given to submissions from attendees of all previous sessions. The session will include interactive review of the submitted papers, with participants agreeing to discuss their work publicly.
