authorship and plagiarism

If you want to indicate there is equal contribution of authors as first authors for your manuscript, please do the following: before you submit your paper, on the Title Page the corresponding author should mark with an asterisk the names of the first authors and then add the following sentence immediately under the list of author addresses: “These authors contributed equally to this work”.

When you submit your manuscript to CVIR, the Editorial Manager system requires that you enter each co-author’s name and contact information in the submission site. When you upload your complete Title Page with author details, ALL authors must be in included on the Title Page, in the exact same order and the exact same spelling as the list you’ve provided in the submission site. Since blinded reviewers do not see this Title Page, the submitting author is solely responsible for ensuring that the Title Page is complete and correct.

If your manuscript is reviewed and ultimately accepted, we’ll send it to our Production Team, with your Title Page as-is. This means that if you have left out a key author’s name; or an author’s first/last name is spelled incorrectly or switched around; or if the authors’ listed order is incorrect; or a mistaken author name is included when it shouldn’t have been, then it will certainly complicate the next steps in the publication process.

Serial plagiarist on the loose…

For each manuscript submitted we carefully check all author names and email. Therefore, we highly recommend to use your institutional email and your 16-digit ORCID number.

For manuscript submitted to our journal, we use CrossCheck (powered by iThenticate) to identify submissions that have questionable text content overlap with other published works. CrossCheck has allowed us to catch submissions before they are ever published, and contact the authors for clarification, or if necessary withdrawal, of the manuscript. However, this process of identifying, comparing and matching text for potential plagiarism will always ultimately rely on the diligence of all involved in the peer-review process – From the authors themselves, to our esteemed collection of editors and reviewers and right down to the editorial office. Please be aware.
